Is it just me or have I missed something obvious? Or is the real question, "Does Fairfax still have shares in crystal sets and carrier pigeons?"
Have been following the topic of the coverage of the Australian Open in the Letters to the Green Guide and in a pointless rush of blood I thought I ought to have my vent about Jim Courier and that non Suisse Roger, Mr Rasheed.
(Choleric words roughly to this effect.)
"When will Channel Seven take pity on viewers of their Australian Open coverage and lose both Jim Courier and Roger Rasheed? How many times were Jim's comments peppered with the words 'I'and 'ME'? I lost count after about 500 and that was well before the quarter finals. Roger Rasheed's manic head and eye movements when commenting from courtside was like watching one of the Thunderbirds puppets with its strings terminally entangled."
'tis not as easy as one might think to lay down one's two bob's worth of bile on the topic.
Forensically looked through the Green Guide (specifically the January 29th edition) for any mention of where one might send a letter to the editor. Closest to anything resembling that was "Reader Services". No simple "If you want to send a letter here's an address - snail and email and this is our a fax number.".
OK, we think to ourself, let's go to the main page of "The Age" and type into the search box "Green Guide". What turned up?
WFT? Has access to the Green Guide been consigned to an unFairlyfaxed black hole?
And Fairfax purports to be a business that is rooted in ... COMMUNICATION!
Rooted in-bloody-deed.
However as I've already indicated, something trés nuanced or even more trés obvious may have escaped moi.
Labels: I DO NOT believe it. (I lied. Of course I do.), One of my grumpy old codger melting moments.
